Sapnu’s interest in Institutional design was evident from her choice of designing an international school for her thesis project. After completing her Bacherlor’s Degree in Architecture from Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, Sapnu’s experience in Gayathri and Namith Architects exposed her to 360 degree residential interiors design and detailing for a conservation hospitality project in Kerala, 7-star Niraamaya Resort. She then went on to complete her Master’s degree in Fine Arts with honours from the New York School of Interior Design. While studying, she worked at Thu Do Design in luxe residential interior projects, and at Pierre Court Design on the hospitality project Mandarin Oriental in. On returning from New York, she joined Ranjit John Architects as Partner. Some of the noteworthy projects she’s worked on in New Delhi since 2012 include the Orthodox Centre in Tuglaqabad which was a closed competition project that was awarded, Deepalaya School in Kalkaji, and the Jesus and Mary College in Chanakyapuri. In all the large and small interior intervention in other projects, she brings with her a playful and quirky sensibility that lends a unique and memorable quality to the most sombre of religious and institutional spaces. Her focus in the design and development of schools has also been by virtue of being the Director of the Trivandrum International School (TRINS) and Cochin International School. She is responsible for turning TRINS into one of the top 10 day-cum-boarding international schools of the country. Her work in education leadership and administration has given her a keen eye for detail and unique client perspective for student-centric institutional design. The TRINS Early Learning Centre was the culmination of her own design sensibilities meeting all her requirements in education. Her 2-yr old son goes to the school, so designing from the user perspective was especially important to her for this project, personally. As a young mother herself, she knew what she would like to see in a space for infant and toddler childcare. Sapnu is a member of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Council of Architecture, Indian Institute of Architects and is also a specially invited member of the Kerala State Council of the Confederation of Indian Industries, representing the Education sector.
