Ar. Krishna Kapadia is a very young professional , graduated from the Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology , Surat in May, 2017. . She was trained as an intern at Hiren Patel Architects, Ahmedabad. Think of It, Both Cafe & Restro , her first project was just going on site when she joined Studio Lagom.
She was involved in the execution and throughout development of the project thereafter. The project is an attempt to provide something that the city lacked - a well designed garden restaurant in the true sense of word, an attempt to create something different - a place making exercise for the people, beyond the straight enclosed air conditioned eateries that the city largely has. It is designed on the lines of tropical spaces. A rustic look, with softness of green landscape and a fluid yet bold red wall, forms a close to earth, organic and free-flowing space. Along with the cafe she was working on the ongoing H-Cube house and has contributed significantly to the project. The H-Cube House in Surat strikes a contemporary and modern note in a nondescript urban milieu. What was precisely attractive and challenging was its compact size. The site was a 35’ x 35’ corner property in a densely populated community of urban Surat. The square dimension meant the absence of a long axis that could have otherwise been used as a base for spatial articulation. Creating H-Cube House, to them, reinforced many beliefs: that size doesn’t matter; that there are always solutions; and that God is in the details.. Also she has been constantly working on the development and on site execution of The Hilla House in Valsad. The project comprises of both office and residence in a linear plot of 17mts x 50mts . The project focuses on letting the purity of materials shine bare. Maintaining privacy and also allowing proper light and air in the house was one challenge in a linear plot. Designed in exposed brick and concrete, the civil work is on finishing stage.
Though very young, with her extremely sincere attitude towards learning and contributing, she has done enormous work ranging from conceptualization to realization of numerous projects since then . Some of which are : Residences - H-Cube house, Hilla house, Apartment interiors- House of hidden doors, Shreepad celebration, Shreepad Ananta , Think of It, Both. cafe & Restro, Conceptual of Naresh Ahir, Ujwal house (Jaipur), Banglore residence and many more in her two years of span at Studio Lagom. She is now the youngest senior architect and guides the new members very aptly. She believes in architecture that gives importance to the beauty of each material, by creating the right balance between less and more. something that is always in harmony with nature. Her ideology being in line with the firm's beliefs has helped create beautiful architecture.
