Ar. Sweta Gajiwala-Doriwala graduated from Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology , Surat in May, 2011. Since then she has been associated with Ar. Hardik Shah and Studio Lagom. She believes in architecture that strikes a balance between less and more, explores the purity of each material and infuses nature in itself, and to achieve that in each and every project we must CARE. She believes that each building demands care, because each building is unique by way of its users, setting, function, and more. Every process needs to be followed through rigorously, in order to create something that is in harmony with nature.
She likes to infuse natural elements into spaces. Along with Ar. Hardik Shah, she played a major role in creating the Skewed House, for which she was awarded the certificate of excellence, for having won the Bronze A Design Award in Architecture, Building and structure design category. Simple aesthetics, a minimal material palette and connections to nature were the main drivers of the design of the Skewed House, the debut project of Studio Lagom. It was a standalone 11,000-square-foot villa that sought to create an oasis of serenity in Surat’s typical urban milieu through a programme that departs from typical planning of this typology. A double-height pooja-tower, an enormous Kalamkari-inspired artwork, materiality, and connections to nature were the highlights of that project. The project won numerous awards, as follows - FOAID Berger - Architecture Ideas 4.0 competition – Platinum Winner in Interior Designer Category : Residential Villa / Bungalow, Best of Houzz 2019 for having the most popular projects among the 40 million - strong Houzz comunity, IIID Design Excellence Awards Commendation in Single Residential Dwelling (Zone -3, 2019), and Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and structure design category. Next, she worked on the H-Cube house which came almost immediately on the heels of the skewed house, which was more than 10 times the scale of the present project. The H-Cube House in Surat strikes a contemporary and modern note in a nondescript urban milieu. What was precisely attractive and challenging was its compact size. The site was a 35’ x 35’ corner property in a densely populated community of urban Surat. The square dimension meant the absence of a long axis that could have otherwise been used as a base for spatial articulation. Creating H-Cube House, to them, reinforced many beliefs: that size doesn’t matter; that there are always solutions; and that God is in the details..
She has worked on numerous other projects like Apartment interiors - The house of hidden doors, Shreepad Celebration, etc. Residential - Jay Desai residence , Naresh Ahir residence, etc, and also retail projects like Seewans Bakery outlet , Office interiors, etc. After her marriage she shifted to Hyderabad, but with an extra-ordinary spirit she is still associated with Studio Lagom and works from there, because of her strong belief to contribute and create spaces that are in harmony with nature. With such beliefs she constantly guides the young talent at Studio Lagom towards being more and more responsible towards the surrounding environment which helps increase sensitivity in design. She is also a visiting faculty at the Vaishnavi School of Architecture and Planning. Her spirit and dedication is a motivation to many.
