Ar. Prakruti Desai is an architect and Urban Designer based in Surat City. After having completed B. Arch and M. Arch (City Design) with honours and Gold Medals in both courses, she works as an Associate in Surat's prestigious firm Aangan Architects which has won more than 20 National and international awards.
She is involved in Architecture and Urban Projects of the firm and is instrumental in rendering services for a number of public projects such as Museum, Parks, open space development, Institutional campuses along with residential projects. She also pursues her role as a researcher in AARI (Aangan Architect Research Initiative) which is the research wing of the firm, that explores extensive studies for architecture of place, urbanism and resilience with core research and analysis as precursors to address the ground realities in the process of design. Aangan’s project 'Reinventing Rander - The historic urban village' has won International Delhi Architecture Festival Award 2017 and was shortlisted as Top 5 projects for the IIA National Awards 2015 in her coordination.
She has been winner of Visual Improvement Design contest, as a part of Make My Surat City Smart organised by Surat Municipal Corporation and Urban Co-creation-A Design competition ITPI GRC-Surat Centre, IIA-Surat Centre and IIID- Surat Regional Chapter.’ Her paper was published in an International Journal as a part of the 19th ARCASIA FORUM under the interesting Category - 'Happiness through Architecture' for the Topic Challenges of a city with Heritage Core, A case of Surat.
