Kapil Gupta, the co-founder of Serie Architects and Principal of Serie Mumbai, leads and manages Serie’s project portfolio in India with projects ranging across housing, commercial and institutional sectors. Kapil is an honours graduate from Sir JJ School of Architecture, Mumbai followed by postgraduate studies at the Architectural Association, London.
At the Serie Architects, Kapil is closely involved with the development of projects from inception to completion. He is a former director of the Urban Design Research Institute, Mumbai serving between 2003 and 2008. During this period he led India’s first entry to the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2006, entitled "Bombay's Land: Between the Relic and the Void'. He was also a part of the Indian Team that won a special award and 2nd Prize at the Sustainable Urban Systems Design Competition in Japan 2003. Gupta has served as a vital part of the jury panels of several competitions and design awards including Archiprix in 2010. He is currently the Charles Correa Design Chair at the Goa School of Architecture for 2020.
His practice, Serie Architects, has a portfolio of successful projects namely the award winning Blue Frog Acoustic Lounge and Studios, The Tote, Thanks Boutique, and the Leo Burnett HQ in Mumbai, India.
