Dipti is always curious about colours, their combinations, new materials, different textures, and all these fun things enforced me to study Interior Designing. Her professional journey began in 2016 in Mumbai, after passing out from MMSID college. Space management was the most important part of any interior design project in Mumbai. It was fun traveling in Locals from different areas for site visits and material selections.
MMD has been crucial in shaping her design ideology in a classically contemporary way. Working on residential as well as commercial/school projects in MMD is helping her in learning structures and functionalities of both categories. A few weeks ago, she embarked upon the journey of designing commercial space - The Rooftop workspace in Pune. The project brief was simple-a working office space and lego blocks inspired Multipurpose gathering space.
Dipti researched several elements from the traditional school era and tried to incorporate it in the design. They used a combination of Abacus, school bells, chalk slates, and writing pads in the design which merged in well with the modern elements. A cheerful colour palette is used in line with the pre-school context. It has been observed that kids in the age group of 3-5 are responsive to bright colours and relate to them easily in their studies. Hues of blue and pink don the walls of the rooftop space. Yellow colour dominates the staircase walls where the writing pads and slates are nailed with sayings from inspirational figures. The execution of the 850 sq.ft. rooftop office was completed in 45 days.
She nominated the pre-school office for the Best use of Colours as she felt the colours in their project have been sensitively selected to cater to their audience of small kids and parents visiting the office to enroll their children, giving the area a homely and welcome feel.
