Moulshri Joshi is a founding partner of award-winning design practice SpaceMatters with ten years of experience as lecturer at the School of Planning & Architecture. SpaceMatters is an integrated design practise with architecture, interior, urban design and habitat research capabilities based out of New Delhi. Moulshri’s expertise lies in the field of industrial heritage and she has been a consultant curator to complex, multi-stakeholder projects that require interdisciplinary, mixed method approach particularly those in the field of post-industrial landscapes and disaster resilience. Moulshri is the principal research backbone of the team and is responsible for furthering architectural research interest of the firm by undertaking strategic research initiatives both in India & abroad. Moulshri’s projects reflect her strong base in environmental and socio-political issues of habitat having worked on urban revitalisation and heritage conservation across Asia. She has authored the Inventory of Industrial Heritage in India, a first of its kind undertaking to document India’s industrial heritage. She has lectured extensively at various Indian institutions and in Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, Sweden and USA. She spearheaded the Bhopal2011 international workshop and symposium. At SpaceMatters, she has lead design projects of diverse scales and nature, such as CIDCO Science City in Navi Mumbai, Blue-Green Masterplan for the Revitalization of the River Musi in Hyderabad, Adaptive Reuse of Modern Heritage of the Giri Sports Complex at Haryana Agricultural University, Modernization and redevelopment of local bus terminals across Delhi, Installation at the Sixth Edition of India Art Fair in New Delhi and Revival of Likhai, the traditional craft of Kumaon. Projects under her lead have won awards such as TRENDS Award 2019, Shelter Award 2019, Archmarathon Award 2019, Global Architecture and Design Awards 2018 and Architizer A+ Awards 2018. Moulshri has led SpaceMatters to win competitions such as the Baha’i House of Worship in Bihar Sharif (2019), CIDCO Science City in Navi Mumbai (2010) and the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Memorial (2005) Moulshri is the National Representative of The International Committee for Conservation of Industrial Heritage (TICCIH), Core Member of mAAN (modern Asian Architecture Network), Coordinator of National Scientific Committee on Industrial Heritage, ICOMOS India, and Advisory Board Member of Asian Network on Industrial Heritage (ANIH). She is also a member of the Council of Architecture, (COA) India, Association of Critical Heritage Studies (ACHS), Indian Steam Railway Society (ISRS) and Railway Enthusiasts’ Society (RES).
