Aesthetic outcome of an experiment with low cost materials

This gym is part of a club facility for a housing colony in Gurugram. Their client wanted a very economic and fast execution of this space. The designers took this up as an opportunity to introduce some low-cost materials that are in no way low on aesthetic appeal and functionality!

This gym is part of a club facility for a housing colony in Gurugram. Their client wanted a very economic and fast execution of this space. The designers took this up as an opportunity to introduce some low-cost materials that are in no way low on aesthetic appeal and functionality! Manishi and Apoorv chose a Cobalt blue and Tuscan sun yellow colour palette to overlay a monotone shell. While blue imparts calm and inner peace, yellow adds fun and power; together this mix is perfect for a gym environment. Due to both, time and cost constraints, they avoided doing a fixed false ceiling, instead added directional suspended Jute rope panels aligning with the linear space. These intertwined jute rope panels are lit from the bottom, forming a mesmerizing shadow pattern on the roof above.

In terms of materials, they used Rubber tile flooring, shot-blasted kota stone flooring, aluminium checkered plate cladding, pine wood planks paneling behind concierge, WPC Screens at entrance, Steel reinforcement with Jute ropes as ceiling panels, Rustic broom texture in POP on wall, E-board paneling, custom-made cycle wheel light fixture, SS backlit signage, yellow lacquer glass, diffused LED light in blue colour tone, thematic graphics and looking mirror paneling.
