This office is for Indian Oil Petronas Pvt. Ltd., which is a joint venture between Indian Oil Corp. Ltd., India and Petronas, Malaysia. Initially the office was meant to be the eastern regional office for the client. Highly impressed by the successful completion of the project which projects an international image of a contemporary corporate office, the highest authorities of both the parent companies decided to make this their corporate headquarters in our country.

The main objective of the design was to create a space of international standards with an ambience that is vibrant, inspiring & conducive to modern working keeping in mind its flexibility and future prospects. The challenge was to create an image, projecting the company’s multifaceted growth globally. The organization of spaces is based on the hierarchy of functions. The space planning follows symmetry around a central axis. Full height glass partitions bring in more natural day light and establish visual connections all across the spaceindoor to outdoor. Different flooring materials like carpet tiles, vitrified tiles & Italian marble are used throughout the office defining different zones, i.e. work areas, the circulation spaces, the service areas. The colour scheme is comprised of neutral colours with splashes of bright colours at strategic locations. Controlled lighting creates area specific effects within the office.

“The challenge was to use the materials of highest level of specifications, which are of international standards and at the same time comply with the sustainability norms, all this, within the budget at hand.”
