Craft Beton Instills Art in Cement

In a quest to find new interpretations of our beloved, humble cement, the city encountered the event with numerous Internationally-acclaimed designers in attendance – showcasing over 50 high-end luxury products made up of cement - ranging from lifestyle to home to accessories.  The event proved that the cement – adored by the who’s who of the industry like: Zaha Hadid, Philip Johnson, along with many other illustrious faces – still has the “still”. In fact Hadid went on to say that she loved the “unfinish-ness” of the grey-matter. On the other hand, Philip enjoyed the fact that the material could be molded and crafted into “anything”. No wonder it is one of most-used and trusted building product – has revolutionized architecture at a global level!

The show presented cement expressing itself through an array of unique and illustrious objects ranging from a cheese platter to conceptual light-fittings. This pioneering innovation explores the versatility of cement in a visually stimulating avatar.  The collection which was considered to be a “paradigm shift” in the architecture fraternity was designed by Iti Tyagi, Somesh Singh, Mirslow Baca (Poland) and Alan Saga (Mexico).

“We have consistently and successfully calibrated cement in various ways, fine-tuning it for the end consumer across geographies and for different needs. Craft Béton is perhaps the finest expression of our innovation, which has essentially created a historic new category for cement. For the first time cement is an object of desire, a feasible and better alternative to conventional materials and is distinctive,” said, Mahendra Singhi, Group CEO, Dalmia Bharat Cement, at the launch.

Without a doubt, cement is a versatile material and Craft Béton has just put an intense stamp of it.
