Ms Anjali Yagnik has been appointed as the Dean of Faculty of Architecture for a term of three years of the CEPT University. She will officially take charge as Dean from 1st July 2020, however, her appointment will commence immediately so she may work with the outgoing Dean, Prof. Surya Kakani, and other faculty members to ensure a smooth handover of responsibility.
The search for the position of Dean of Faculty of Architecture was announced in March 2020, and nominations were invited from faculty members and the CEPT community. A search and selection committee was constituted comprising Tridip Suhrud (Chair), A Srivathsan, Stephane Paumier, Chirayu Bhatt, and S D Mehta.
The committee has unanimously recommended the appointment of Ms. Yagnik as the new Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.
Anjali Yagnik is an alumna of CEPT and a practicing architect based in Bengaluru. She completed her diploma in architecture in 1980, from the School of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad, and a master’s in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. While in the US, she worked with leading architecture practices in California for eight years. In 1992, she returned to India and set up a practice with her husband, late Vijay Yagnik (also an alumnus), and has led that practice for the last 28 years.
She has been teaching as a visiting faculty at the CMR University in Bengaluru for the past 3 years.
Anjali brings with her a strong and diverse practice experience, and exemplary personal attributes of clear thinking, transparency, and the can-do approach of a true professional.
As the new Dean of Faculty of Architecture, Anjali Yagnik will be charged with improving academic standards at the Faculty, and ultimately the quality of student work.
She will work with faculty members to invite capable practitioners and teachers from the community to teach at CEPT and find ways to groom new talent.
