Ar Renzo Piano gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Famous Ar Renzo Piano who is known for buildings including Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome, and The Shard, London has received a Lifetime Achievement Award recently by Rome's MAXXI National Museum of the 21st Century Arts.

Presented virtually to Piano by Giovanna Melandri, President, MAXXI, the accolade is a part of the Italian Architecture Award 2020 was organised by MAXXI and Triennale Milano, with the patronage of Italy's culture ministry. It also marked the tenth anniversary of MAXXI in Rome.

Considered as Italy's greatest living architect, Ar Renzo Piano has recently designed a new bridge for his native town Genoa, free of charge that will replace the infamous Morandi Bridge whose collapse on August 14, 2018 caused the lives of 43 people.

The international jury approved the recipient unanimously, underlining "the professional and civil commitment that has marked and continues to mark Piano's architectural production and his tireless work of promoting the quality and public value of architecture."

Considered as Italy's greatest living architect, Ar Renzo Piano has recently designed a new bridge for his native town Genoa, free of charge that will replace the infamous Morandi Bridge whose collapse on August 14, 2018 caused the lives of 43 people. He is also the senator for life since 2013 in Italian Parliament, giving him the right to vote in the Upper House.

The Premio Italiano di Architettura (Italian Architecture Award), that takes place annually, aims to promote the architectural production of Italian designers or those active in Italy and whose commitment is orientated towards innovation, the quality of the project and the social role of architecture.
