Designed as an art gallery, Amdavad Ni Gufa demonstrates the collaboration between an artist and architect. Here, the challenges between an artist and an architect gave birth to the most unexpected.

An underground gallery houses the works of artist Maqbool Fida Husain. Doshi’s design was inspired by a discussion between the two that occurred thirty years prior to the project.
It was about a response to climate, and the benefits of interred spaces.

In designing the landscape and entrance, the architect connects the building to the extended world.

The architecture is based searching the uncommon i.e. raising fundamental questions – meaning of function, meaning of space, meaning of technology, structure and form.

The only constant expressed here is the modulation of natural light, natural movements which provide unsought answers.
