
On the occasion of World Architecture Day and to mark Legendary Architect Le Corbusier's birthday, SURFACES REPORTER (SR) in association with School of Architecture, Noida International University has planned a 'E-Talk Series' with 3 legendary architects SD Sharma, Ar Isay Weinfeld, Brazil, and Ar Thomas Vonier, USA.

Currently serving at the President, Council of Architecture (COA), Ar Habeeb Khan is known for his distinctive ‘Contemporary Vernacular’ Architecture, he is an award winning designer, public speaker and teacher.

AR ISAY WEINFELD:
Ar Isay Weinfeld is one of Brazil’s most renowned contemporary architects. He is responsible for the elegantly minimalistic designs of several boutiques, restaurants, hotels and homes throughout São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, including the luxurious Hotel Fasano. Isay also works as a set designer, furniture designer and filmmaker. Among his best known works are the hotels for the Fasano Group in São Paulo * and Porto Feliz (Brazil), and Punta del Este (Uruguay), in addition to the Square Nine Hotel (Serbia) and the La Petite Afrique Building (Monaco).For some years, he taught "Theory of Architecture" at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie , having also been a professor at FAAP. Weinfeld thinks of a building as a complete artwork that needs to be not just functional but beautiful.The Brazilian architect’s works are characterized by glass and concrete, dark wood shades and soft color accents: all elements of a unique brand of distinguished restraint. Many of his projects have been featured in the Home Series which is available on NETFLIX.
This session will see an interesting dialogue by Ar Isay Weinfled followed by a panel discussion moderated by Vertica Dvivedi, Editor-in-Chief, SURFACES REPORTER along with eminent panelists Ar N Mahesh, Iyer & Mahesh, Trivandrum and Ar Nishant Gupta, Associate Architect, Architect Hafeez Contractor and Ar. Rajendra Kumar, Director, SOA, NIU who is also the curator of this talk.

THE LEGENDARY ARCHITECT S D SHARMA, Chandigarh in a Special Conversation with VERTICA DVIVEDI

This session will be dedicated to a very interesting talk between Legendary Ar SD Sharma and Vertica Dvivedi, Editor-in-Chief, SURFACES REPORTER.

Ar S D Sharma needs little introduction. Loved and respected by all his contemporaries alike, he has created works of outstanding quality. Having worked with the likes of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret since the inception of the Chandigarh City in 1952, Ar Sharma is a veteran architect carrying experience of decades. P. Jeanneret describes him as an 'Architect of rare qualities who understands deeply the meaning of the built environment.' The Le Corbusiers museum was handed over to Ar Sharma him for completion upon Corbusier's untimely death. His firm S D Sharma and Associatesm Chandigarh is a highly decorated and awarded firm today with projects ranging from institutional, industrial, commercial projects and more. Listening to him would be a great opportunity for every architecture enthusiast.
Vertica Dvivedi (Moderator) is the editor-in-chief of SURFACES REPORTER magazine which is a decade old news & information portal for architects, interior designers, builders and building materials. She is also the founder of WADE ASIA, one of the largest platfoms for women in design.

AR THOMAS VONIER:
Ar Thomas Vonier is the current President of UIA, International Union of Architects and former President AIA (American Institute of Architects).Based in Paris and Washington D.C., Tom’s practice serves public and private clients with global industrial operations. He also works with municipalities to improve urban security. As a board certified security professional, Tom led groundbreaking research for US embassies and consulates, resulting in landmark recommendations to the Secretary of State and a new generation of design criteria. He was international advisor to the Federal Triangle planning project, which received a Presidential Design Award.With a group of young architects in Washington D.C., Vonier pioneered work in energy conscious design and the use of solar and wind energy. He was part of the team that received a P/A Design Award for the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. He received the Henry Adams Award for his research on public museums, completed under a fellowship from the National Science Foundation.An award-winning author on both architecture and security, Tom was the European correspondent for Progressive Architecture magazine, where his work was nominated for the Jesse H. Neal Award.
