
Yogi Adityanath government has okayed the ambitious Ganga Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh, whose total cost is pegged at Rs. 36,402 crore. Read SURFACES REPORTER (SR)’s complete story here:
Going to be one of the longest expressways in India, Ganga Expressway will join Hardwar to Prayagraj (previously Allahabad), along the shoreline. The expressway will cross the key UP towns like Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Meerut, Hapur, Unnao, Hardoi, Rae Bareli and Shahjahanpur.
The state government is also planning to bring SBI Capital Markets aboard as a financial advisor for the project. The authority is also pondering over to set up a high-power committee -Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)- to gather funds for this mega project. An official release said that the cabinet also approved a district-wise alignment of the Expressway.
The cabinet is also willing to utilize the Centre’s decision to allow 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in construction projects via the automatic route.
The release pointed out that the expressway will help in the social and economic development of UP. Also, the mega project will also allow smooth travel to Delhi and other states through Allahabad.
