Karim Rashid is one of the most prolific designers of this generation. Over 3000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 40 countries attest to Karim’s legend of design.
There was a time when Solid Surfaces were considered a great proposition in theory but unpractical for usage. Only a few years ago, while the material was being widely used worldwide, it had few takers in India due to a number of factors namely craftsmanship, price, reliability, lack of awareness about the material properties and so on. Today the situation has changed for good. Going ahead with their conventional use as Table tops and Kitchen counters, Solid Surfaces are getting explored in a variety of applications such as facades, lattice walls, partitions, bar counters, installations, airport counters, furniture, artefacts etc. Due to its special thermo formability, countless opportunities, longevity, easy maintenance and eco-friendly nature, the material has immense potential in crafting the design of your dreams and which is why Designers like Karim Rashid are falling in love with it again and again!

“Solid Surfaces allow me to create an amorphous solid-surface landscape that denotes a world with no boundaries. The surrounding interior of the LG Hausys exhibition becomes a state between liquid plastic and a solid material object. The results are organic forms that softly translate into and out of flat planar surfaces. The overall feeling creates a state of endlessness, a continual ephemeral experience. I designed the LG Hausys space to bring enjoyment, not encumbrances, and increase our level of engagement and of beauty. We can develop the inanimate world to be an extension of our emotion and our physical being. The LG Hausys exhibition encompasses all the needs of an open contemporary fluid and technological home.

The holistic approach to the full space shows how our lives are elevated when we experience beauty, comfort, luxury, performance, smartness, technology and utility seamlessly together. Our domestic environments have a relationship with us, emotionally, physically, socially and psychosomatically. Spaces and Objects play into the conditioning of our behaviours, it dictates the way with live, the way we interact, the modus operandi of our experiences. We make a better world through design.”
