Parul Zaveri co-founded Abhikram, meaning initiation in Sanskrit, an Architecture, Interiors, Conservation and Planning consultancy firm in 1979. She has a Diploma in Architecture from CEPT, Ahmedabad in 1978, and has supplemented her studies with specific courses in the Urban Settlement Design in Developing Countries program, at MIT, Cambridge (USA) in 1975-76. She has also pursued interests in Alternative Technologies and the use of Solar Energies and Recycling at Arcosanti & at Cosanti Foundations, with architect-philosopher Paolo Soleri in Arizona, U.S.A.
The principal architect of Abhikram has received the Fellowship of Chicago Cultural Centre in 1995. She is a visiting faculty at School of Interior Design, Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
