The project came to our design board for a reinvention with contemporary material finishes that would update & create an upscale movie-going experience. The client wanted to remove the existing stainless steel wave form ceiling that seemed to weigh down the arrival experience with its solid & heavy look. Our design suggested retaining the inheritance of waves as an ode to the city of Mumbai & yet transforming it. The ceiling was proposed with a new visual texture specialized paint from OIKOS in pearlised amber to create a surreal effect on the floating wave forms that glide above. The luxurious quality of the paint & its scaled implementation created a beautiful softness and lightness in the spatial environment making it appear softly sculpted & organically lighted. The colour palette & scaling was specially developed by OIKOS for the project. The implementation was also a specialized job by authorized applicator to ensure the natural effect of flow in the curving wave form.
Materials
The ceiling paint finish is MOP of OIKOS paints & is accented with punctuated up lighting. The wave ceilings in auditorium entrances seem to flow in the doors metallic finish from GREENLAM laminates. The doors are designed with an abstract ellipse insignia in laser cut stainless steel.
