A mesmerizing piece of furniture- ‘The Light Chair’- from Industrial designer Taehwan Kim is an epitome of Iridescence.
The Korea-based furniture maker and product designer- Taehwan Kim- created truly captivating art-like furniture, in which a transparent sheet made of polycarbonate is covered with Dichroic film. This film both scatters and reflects light, giving the chair attractive colours of the rainbow.

Along with the entirely transparent plastic that forms the chair, the final visual effect is amazing. It is an ideal piece of indoor as well as outdoor furniture because of its luminosity and optimal quality. However, the real look of this chair can be felt when it is kept outside.
What makes this chair more visually appealing? It is its regularly shifting chromatism. The formula behind the brilliance of this enticing optical effect is the use of dichroic films that can scatter a beam of light into several different colours.

When you move around the chair or see it from different point angels or in changing light conditions, the chair comes to life with a beautiful show of colours. So, when light passes through it, it not only transforms the colour of the seat but also alters the colour of its reflected shadow.
The backrest of the chair is just the extended part of the base, adjusted ideally to the curves of the sitter when he or she tilts back in the chair.
