Chairs have been around since long time but developing new and innovative ideas is quiet a daunting task. However, the rich history of chairs always entices and inspires furniture designers worldwide. Recently, a Seoul-based product designer Yunjae Lee has come up with a simple but uniquely imaginative chair design- Tri-Round Chair that can break down to eleven separate pieces echoing the IKEA projects. As its name suggests, the chair has three rounded legs and it does not require any extra tools or hardware for assembly. Scroll down this SURFACES REPORTER (SR)’s post to know more striking features of the project:

Lee used birch plywood and CNC-milling in the creation of the Tri-Round Chair. 11 pieces of the chair have been CNC-milled to fit into one another just like a 3D puzzle.
Two wooden pieces forms the center support structure of the chair that rests on the ground and offers strength to the chair. One longer plank transverses and runs vertically to those two boards to give additional support side legs that frame the main seat and backrest of the chair.
Symmetrical and round by design, Tri-Round Chair has complex interlocking formation that ensures its firmness and strong structure.

Use of Birch Plywood in Formation
Birch wood that measures 18mm in width is used to build the chair. Thick pieces of plywood are strong enough to support the chair’s weight without any bending or the use of extra hardware.
The tri-round chair is an epitome of innovation and perfection. Each piece of the the chair impeccably connects with one another to create a finished product that looks unique with its three legs but similar in strength to a traditional four-legged chair.
