Covid 19 pandemic has profoundly impacted the way people work and live. The working pattern of people has been changed with the challenges of remote working and managing their personal life But how cool it would if you find a working space floating on a river? Hard to believe, but the Poland based designer Agnieszka Bialek, owner of Krakow based studio Monolight has done this. She has come up with the innovative idea of designing floating office pods dubbed as 'Enclaves' to provide the relaxing working atmosphere and maximum privacy to the workers amidst the amazing views. These office pods are 3D- printed by using recycled and waterproof materials to minimize their carbon footprint. Bialek, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Poland, came up with the idea of zen office pods while walking along the riverbank during the lockdown. She thought that it would be great to have floating offices that would have no imprint on the land. This made her develop the concept of 'Enclaves floating on the Vistula River with the Wawel Castle as the setting. The notion was to use the vacant natural spaces sustainably.

Agnieszka Bialek

"It is still difficult to define the changes that [COVID-19] will make in architecture in the long run. We know for sure that we are facing a new reality. Remote work has become the norm for most companies and will continue for a long time to come. Consequently, employees will be able to choose the time and form of work. To a large extent, we will notice fatigue with the home space. We will gladly move the work zone from home to another place. The concept makes working remotely possible, becomes a comfortable place for online meetings, or relaxing in the new reality of reduced touch," says Bialek. Till we can get our Enclaves, let's continue with those daily walks.

Reach These Floating Office Pods Through Kayak

She designed these Enclaves- the floating co-working spaces that can be easily accessible by Kayak, cutting off all sort of disturbances and providing a personal space. These can be rented for a day or an hour to organize meetings, enjoy working in an amazing picturesque scenery or immerse in work in the tranquil atmosphere.

Appear Like Bubbles on the River

Agnieszka described the concept as a series of interconnected "cells" like water lilies floating on the river and linked with each other like leaves of the plants, making it more flexible with the idea of a floating office pod. With the contrast of the natural setting, the architectural structure of this project has a modern look with soft and curved edges.

The floating and geometric shape of the Enclaves give the project a unique look of bubbles on the river. These pods are 3D printed by using recycled and waterproof materials to minimize their carbon footprint. These materials could be rearranged easily when needed in different locations near the river.

The natural theme reduces the utility requirements. And as it's floating on the river, there will be no soil degradation.

The project will have built-in furnishings and create great space for remote workers, who can book the space and spent time in peace with great scenery and atmosphere far away from any interference.

As the COVID-19 outbreak across the world is giving a tough time to everyone, it is also making us realize how important it is to be connected to nature and the environment. Bialek is one of those architects who are using natural space more sustainably. With this flexible, unique and multipurpose outdoor location, architects are brainstorming new ways to use the space with natural materials without harming the environment.
