Restro Qualia by P&D Associates in Bharuch Blends the French Bistro Style With Rustic Finishes | Bharuch

Hand-painted pink flamingo artwork on the exposed brick walls, herringbone flooring, baroque mirrors, overhanging chandeliers, earthy material palette, an embellished wrought iron entrance are some of the features that characterise the Restro Qualia- a multi-cuisine restaurant designed by Pratik Sidhpura and Devang Patel, the founders and principal designers at P&D Associates. Located in Bharuch, Gujarat, the restaurant has become a cynosure owing to its artistic amalgamation of old French Bistro vibe with rustic finishes. With an interior footprint spanning 1015 Square feet, Qualia features an on-site café and mocktail bar with a dining space for almost 50 people. Café Qualia embodies the quintessential French bistro experience in a warm and cosy environment. The client Amar Shahdadpuri and his friends approached the designers for the cafe project, they wanted to enter the food business for a quite long time, and thus they knew what environment they wanted for their own. Their brief was to give their customers an experience of uptown cafe culture, with fresh & young outlook.

Old French Bistro Vibe

With a modern design approach, the firm transformed this 1015 Square feet interior space into an engaging visual feast with an overseas identity.

Hand-Painted Pink Flamingo ArtworkHints were taken from the old French bistro culture and revamped into something quite refreshing yet traditional. The whole idea revolved around the mortar washed brick which became the base palate for this café.

Earthy Material Palette

The primary material used was this herringbone pattern, which is fabulously done with polyblend sanded grout in true white, which lightens the brick and helps the colour pop.

Designing cafés accommodating maximum sitting space without cramping the space and making it airy is always a thing that benefits the restaurateur. Creating the proper layout which benefits both the restaurateur & the customers was a fun exercise for the design team.

Key Design Features

The café features smooth and rounded edges, arches overhanging chandelier, and a decorative wrought iron entrance.

Hand-Painted Pink Flamingo ArtworkThe primary starting point for this project was mortar-washed brickwork, which the firm also used to cover the floor and walls. Everything else was made to enhance and follow the simple, earthy tones of space.

Another key feature of this café is the hand-painted wall covering the exposed brickwork decorated with a vintage wall mirror overlooking the dining space.

While giving the café an overseas feel, the design team kept its identity by lining it with the theme.

The hand-painted wall piece created by a local artist is a unique feature curated just for this café, giving a visual feast to the fellow consumer visiting the café. Interior space is their interpretation of the traditional design offset with modern elements.
