The beauty of an abode lies in the narratives that echo through its walls. And fluting design adds pleasing texture and poise to otherwise plain walls. Keeping this in mind, Poonam Mehta and Akash Mehta of AMPM Designs have visualized and realized this opulent high-rise 5000 sq feet home in Pune that features a lovely rhythmic patterned paneling all over be it on the double-height walls of the spectacular living room, the custom-made furniture or the furnishing. Shades of grey and a fluted panel defined the entire design concept for this project. The client wanted a dark palette for the residence and the design team wanted to explore the same idea. They have shared with SURFACES REPORTER (SR) how the entire project was shaped up. Read on:

Eye-Catching Texture and Contrast
The wall paneling is actually scooped out in such a manner that it didn’t require much maintenance and the visual drama it offered was definitely worth the effort.
And just when your eyes get used to the fluted panel, the contrasting off-center marble wall mural catches you unaware and leaves a lasting impression.
Stunningly textured, this marble with brass inlay is like a massive piece of art and makes a very strong statement against the Armani Grey flooring that runs through the home.
The brass inlay rhythmically flows through the house, adding a touch of glamour to the furniture, and paneling.
Bar Area Makes A Stylish Statement
To offset the dark tones, neutral coloured furniture dresses up the living space, while the bar area makes a statement with royal blue sofas and bold brass inserts.
Each piece of furniture has been custom-designed to ensure that every little requirement of the family was taken care of. The statement piece in the bar is this ceiling suspended bar cabinet with mesh shutters. The cabinets below are all fluted and designed to offer ample storage including one cabinet that can be pulled out and doubles up as the bar trolley.

Uninterrupted Flow of Rhythm in Different Spaces
Inspired by the bar cabinet, the divider between the dining area and the living space has a vertical test tube-like design with mirrors on both sides. The synergy between the spaces, in spite of each being unique, is all thanks to the rhythm that flows seamlessly through the different areas.
Fluted Patterns in Bedrooms
The bedrooms too have hints of the fluted pattern but are each customized to the requirements of the occupants. Like the parent’s room has a very dramatic tufted bed set against mocha walls. The water droplet metal installation adds a subtle touch of drama while the rest of the room has an understated elegance.
The master bedroom is designed with grey panels and furniture with an accent of wine-colored velvet fabric. The guest bedroom is a juxtaposition of 3 elements - wood, fabric, and metal.
An unlikely marriage that is both explosive and successful.
Gender-Neutral Nursery Palette
The nursery is special and is the only space in the house designed in a neutral palette for a starry-eyed newborn. The furniture is sourced from Cradlemama along with wallcoverings that are treated with minimalist wainscoting on walls. The Chevron wooden flooring adds warmth to the space.
It is difficult to flush in a rush in the sumptuous powder bathroom which has been designed with an intensely busy marble, carved basin, and accessories tray to match. The wall lights from Emanate Lighting add to the glamour.
