1. Look, style, color, finish

Door handles are available in a wide variety of colors, finishes, styles and look. If chosen correctly, they match with your aesthetics very well. They can give a lavish look to the entrance of your house or any door they are installed at.

2. Security

One should keep this aspect in mind while choosing a door handle. For front door locks, one must always choose mortice lock as they are the most secure door locks.

3. Door knob or door handle

People tend to choose both door knob or door handle. Both are equally safe and versatile and have their own benefits. Door handles, somehow, are easy to use and maintain and they are more user friendly. For home with children, disabled people, or elders, door handles are the way to go.

4. Function of door

Door handles for different doors are segregated. For places like entrance door, a high security door handle with secure lock is a must. For places like bedroom or bathroom, a locking privacy knob or liver door is needed. For places like hallways or passage, a non-locking, passage knob or lever door is used. A decorative door needs a non-turning dummy knob whereas for exterior doors, a keyed knob is required.

5. Consider the weather conditions

Make sure to install a door handle that can withstand the weather of the area you are living in. For tropical areas near the ocean, a 316 marine grade door handle and lock is used as it withstands humidity and salt. Ask your interior designer or the retailer about the quality of door handle you need to use based on the weather conditions of your area.

6. Accessories

You can add a few door accessories to give a finished look to the whole interior. Adding complementary door holder, door stops, door bells, door viewers, coat hooks, switch plates, door knockers or even house numbers will never be a bad idea.

7. Fix the budget

Always make sure to decide the money you are going to spend on door handles and locks. Sometimes, what you may like at the store can cost more than your budget. Make sure to do ideal research before purchasing door handles. Find door handles of your choice within the set budget and you are good to go.

Door handles sure can make your entrance door look lavish. They reflect your image and your taste and selecting the right kind of door handle increases the worth of the house as well. The next time you go shopping for door handles, make sure to follow these steps.
