First 3D Printed Home In Japan Is Built In Less Than 24 Hours

Masayuki Sono, Principal Japanese architect of - Serendix- has realized the first 3D-printed house in Japan in less than 24 hours. Christened ‘Sphere’, the house depicts a 20-metric-ton reinforced concrete structure for the habitat at the Hyakunen Jutaku factory in Shizuoka. ‘‘Housing construction such as waterproofing and openings was completed in just 23 hours and 12 minutes. As a result, we achieved the development goal of Serendix, which was to create a house in 24 hours,” said the firm. Read more about the project in detail below at SURFACES REPORTER (SR):

The skeleton weighed about 20 tons, and its assembly was completed in 3 hours,’ mentioned in the press release.  The company said last year that it could construct the building in a day for under 3 million yen (approx. $25.500).

And the company met its goal a year later. It took the firm just 23 hours and 12 minutes to complete this house in Japan. The architect of the structure won the NASA 2015 3D housing challenge.

Futuristic 3D Pod Withstands Earthquake

Constructed within a day, this futuristic 3D Printed Home is designed in such a way that it satisfies the high seismic performance of Japanese standards. It features a reinforced concrete structure that clears the heat insulation performance of European standards.

Off-The Grid Technology

This 3D-printed home not only saves time and money but also offers relief and comfort during a large-scale natural disaster owing to its integration with off-the-grid technology.
