Warm and Minimal Design Defines Internet Sensation And Content Creator Kusha Kapilas Home | Joint Studio | Gurugram

Take A Tour of Popular Sensation and Content Creator Kusha Kapilas Home | Joint Studio | Gurugram

Worked with celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kusha Kapila is a popular Internet sensation and content writer who got fame for her satirical reels on Instagram. When Kusha and her husband- Zorawar Ahluwalia bought a builder floor in Gurugram, they wanted Nimisha Sharma- founder and principal designer of Joint Studio and Kusha's long-time ally to give the space a makeover. The brief was to create a space that is visually minimal, peaceful and helps them live a clutter-free life. The abode gets its name 'House Kuzo', which came about by simply combining the client’s name’s first two initials Kusha + Zorawar = Ku+Zo = KUZO.

"If I had to assign a feeling to House Kuzo, I would say Inner Peace. That's what House Kuzo signifies to us. In this fast-paced life, we all need a break, House Kuzo is that calming breath of air. When everything is one click away, this house is designed to slow down your pace, it makes you stop and look around," tells Nimisha to SURFACES REPORTER (SR).

How was the site when the designer first visited it? " We got the site as a ready builder floor, and our work had just begun as we wanted to change everything in the space from floor to ceiling. Every design was created to move away from conventional Indian houses, we wanted to break the norms of how a house should be, knowing we only had a limited space of 2200 sqft, we wanted the space to feel much bigger than it was intended to be," explains Nimisha.

Bespoke FurnishingsTo Match Clients' Design And Comfort Needs

As the site was small the designer had to design multifunctional products that double up and transformed the space, like a dining table was not just a table- it's a Table that doubles as a Bar table and has drawers in them for cutlery storage. Every product was custom-designed to cater to a specific need.

Double Toned Material Palette

The material palette was intentionally kept double-toned, with greys and whites as the base.

"We introduced terracotta as an upholstery addition to keeping the space calm and not too busy. We combined these tones with natural wood textures to introduce warmth and a sense of tactile experience to the space," reflects Nimisha.

Every Corner Speaks

House Kuzo is a space that evokes tranquility and gives a sense of peace with the warmth of a comfortable home. Each corner speaks a curated story.

Every product is designed to satisfy the needs of the clients with utmost care where ergonomics plays a substantial role in the entire design process.

Seamless Flow of Space

When you detach yourself from belongings, can you truly apply the concept of less is more? The very essence of this space feels like a journey towards self-discovery and tranquility. Some things were designed intentionally to go back to basics, the designer kept the manual nature of products which takes you back to a much simpler time.

The beauty of this house is that each space merges into another effortlessly, It's like a symphony where each musical note gives way to the next. In-house Kuzo one space transforms into the next creating a seamless flow. One activity gives way to the other.

Reflecting Owner's Personality

Any house is envisioned around the residents' daily routines and behavior patterns which helps us in curating a uniquely designed space. "With House Kuzo, we worked very closely with the clients to understand all the needs and translated them into a physical space," says Nimisha.

"We played with light and shadow by bringing natural light into the space, using frosted films keeping the privacy of the residents in mind," she further adds.

A Multipurpose Haven

The monolithic nature of the house brings a sense of comfort, especially when you are not constantly distracted by multiple colors or even a multitude of objects around you, It's a peaceful calming abode. "We believe, you are not supposed to adapt to the house, but quite the opposite, the house should be able to adapt to your patterns and provide space for self-discovery.

That's what House Kuzo signifies - where each space caters to your custom lifestyle needs yet gives you enough space to grow," comments Nimisha. The home follows a warm and minimal design style that aptly reflects the spirited personality of its inhabitants.
