This project will also involve an installation of 42MW-worth of waste heat recovery power capacity, enabling both plants to operate on renewable energy and 50% alternative fuel (AF). Upon completion, Ambuja Cements' reduced-CO2 Blended Green Cement output will total 14Mt/yr. This entire expansion of operations shall be funded through internal accruals, and is expected to be finished by May 2025.
CEO Ajay Kapur made it clear that investments in capacity expansion and sustainability were part of their strategy to double production over the next five years. Current capacity stands at 67.5Mt/yr, and these ongoing investments will help them realize their long-term objectives, with a focus on sustainable growth and stakeholder value maximization.
Ambuja Cements reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 763.30 crore for the quarter that ended on 31 March 2023, representing a 10.87 per cent decrease from the previous period.
The clinker capacity expansion is likely to be highly beneficial for the firm.
