In order to construct a 21-km-long tunnel for India's first bullet train, the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has awarded a contract to Afcons Infrastructure for Rs 6,397 crore. Read SURFACES REPORTER (SR)’s complete report below:
Afcons will construct a twin-track undersea rail tunnel of seven kilometers at Thane Creek in Maharashtra, utilizing three tunnel boring machines and Austrian tunneling methods.
In February 2023, technical bids were opened, and in April 2023, financial bids were opened.
In 2027, the Bullet Train will run on a larger section between Mumbai and Sabarmati. Its maximum speed will be 320 kmph, and the corridor will cover 508 km spread over 12 stations.
