A 20-kilometre four-lane stretch and a 32-kilometre stretch between Miles and Rajol villages in Kangra district have been approved by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest.
This venture falls under the second stage and requires an aggregate of Rs 8,000 crore. The obstruction in the building caused by the lack of woodland endorsement was just recently addressed, with 7.28 hectares of land requiring approval.
In 2019, the bid for Phase-II opened in New Delhi and was given to Gawar Construction Company situated in Gurugram, worth Rs 678 crore.
The first phase's construction is already underway. With authorization from the Ministry, this long-awaited project can be brought to a conclusion on or before its targeted completion date of 2017.
This 219-km four-lane road is a crucial strategic project connecting Pathankot to Leh, Ladakh, and other forward areas.
As a result of the government's efforts to expedite the completion of the project, Pathankot will be 171 kilometres closer to Mandi once it is finished.
