Notable Ar Hafeez Contractor, known for the transforming the skyline of a number of metro cities is now roped in to give a new face to Dharavi, one of the biggest slums of the world. A report by SURFACES REPORTER.
First phase to get Rs 21,000 Cr
Billionaire Gautam Adani-led Group won the bid to develop the mega industrial project for the Redevelopment of the Dharavi area last year. Now it has roped in three city planners, i.e., Ar Hafeez Contractor, Design firm Sasaki and Consultancy firm Buro Happold to run the Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd the consortium that will oversee the development work.
The Integrated Dharavi Redevelopment Project is one of the most ambitious projects of the Maharashtra administration. The Adani Group won the project in November last year after making a bid of Rs 5,069 crore for the estimated Rs 23,000 crore project. The other bidders of the project were DLF and Shree Naman Group.
The total land parcel is about 47 acres and the government is targeting the completion of at least a few buildings before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
Adani Group will be investing Rs 21,000 crore in the first phase of the project.
