Lakha Red Granite and Gwalior White Sandstone in the World’s Largest Office Building | Morphogenesis

Lakha Red Granite and Gwalior White Sandstone in the World’s Largest Office Building | Morphogenesis

The 660,000-square-meter Surat Diamond Bourse, located on the outskirts of Surat, was conceived as a “city within a city” for the world’s largest diamond trading community. The building’s wings feature extensive use of glazing and local Gwalior white sandstone, while the central spine is adorned with local Lakha red granite.

Sonali Rastogi emphasizes, “The vibrant red color choice aimed to maximize the use of locally sourced materials. The Lakha red granite and Gwalior white sandstone used in the construction were sourced from within a 300 km radius, aligning with sustainability goals.

Manit & Sonali Rastogi Morphogenesis

Sonali and Manit Rastogi started Morphogenesis in 1996 with a vision of defining a sustainable architecture for contemporary India. Their approach towards creativity is inspired by the evolutionary processes in nature and their belief in sustainability shapes all their projects.
