The innovative design of the façade consists of a semi perforated façade and a kinetic screen made of burnt red granite. Designed for a residence situated on a busy Baroda Road, it addresses vital issues which include privacy apart from mitigating the noise and the heat stemming from the southwest. The screen can be kept still at different angles keeping in mind the level of openness desired. Moreover, the slits in granite allows the residents to control the diffusion of sunlight in the interiors.
Elucidating on the installation process of this novel façade, Ar Dipen Gada who designed the façade says “We started by creating a 19 mm thick solid bar grid, specifically a metal (MS) grid, which underwent a detailed coating with epoxy paint.
Following this, a pivot was introduced, and green lights of various sizes were positioned strategically. The initial cut was then executed, and subsequently, CNC technology was employed to intricately replicate the art on the screen. Each panel, showcasing its unique art, was individually installed using the pivot.” The facade is not just functional; it also serves as a canvas for artistic expression. Intricate art, including a leaf motif, adorns the entire facade, adding aesthetic value. Furthermore, a captivating sci-graphic integrates into the interior, enriching the design narrative in spaces such as the bedrooms, family room, and the upper lounge.
