Sculptural Terracotta and Laterite Facade of Biju Janata Dal Party Headquarters| Studio Lotus

The facade of the Biju Janata Dal Party Headquarters, designed by Studio Lotus in collaboration with Siddhartha Das Studio, is adorned with sculptural reliefs crafted from locally sourced laterite and terracotta.

These intricately hand-chiselled motifs draw inspiration from Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, featuring traditional handloom patterns like ikat and sambalpuri, agrarian symbols, indigenous Santhal paintings, and elements of Konark and Puri temple architecture.

This thoughtful design not only celebrates regional artistry but also promotes natural ventilation, improving indoor thermal comfort. By utilizing regional materials and craftsmanship, the facade embodies the party’s vision of rooted yet progressive values, blending traditional skills with contemporary functionality.
