Cane, Bamboo And Earth Tones Shape This Surat Home | Kashti Design Studio

In the lush outskirts of Surat, The Tranquil Nest by Kashti Design Studio gracefully emerges as a poetic testament to materials, where every finish, every surface, and every grain of texture speaks of belonging, culture and serenity. Designed for the Kaneria family, this 1,500 sqft residence is rooted in a palette of cane, bamboo and white-oak wood.

Cane breathes throughout the home; in cabinet shutters, screens and in soft woven accents, thus bringing a sense of lightness and familiarity. In the master bedroom, bamboo mats stretch across the ceiling, replacing synthetic alternatives with a texture that recalls a vernacular and handmade grace. The floor, f inished in understated stone, echoes the natural terrain beyond the windows.

The earthbound tones of terracotta, green and blue cradle the muted beige wall, while the interplay of cane, bamboo and white oak wood anchors the material palette across the furnishings, creating a sense of calm and continuity.

A classic Gujarati jhula floats in the living room, not only as a nod to the family’s heritage but as a structural element that connects the living and kitchen spaces in a gentle flow.

The master bedroom continues this narrative with cupboard shutters crafted from wood and cane, and a ceiling woven from bamboo matting, departing from conventional POP designs.

The daughter’s room introduces fluted-glass panel shutters on the wardrobe that softly blur internal light, while the versatile guest room is furnished with foldable bedding and Indian-style seating that transforms the space into a guest retreat or a cozy corner.
