A journey to space will no longer be a dream only. Like astronauts, people in other professions can also plan a vacation outside the Earth as World's first space hotel will soon be a reality. A Californian-based start-up- the Gateway Foundation, has announced plans to start constructing the world's first space hotel in 2026, which is expected to finish in 2027. The hotel will accommodate a spa, a cinema, restaurants, bars, gyms and rooms for 440 people. The recently unveiled images and videos of the resort have already created a huge buzz in the virtual world. Isn't it great that the space enthusiasts can actually have an out-of-the-world experience as this space hotel could be operational soon? Read SURFACES REPORTER (SR)'s complete report on this.

Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is the company behind this ambitious project called Voyager Station. The design was conceptualised in the year 2012 with the launch of the Gateway Foundation, which established OAC in 2018 to fulfil the dream of constructing the first commercial hotel in space.
The hotel will offer unprecedented views of our planet to almost 280 guests and 112 crew members. It will also be helpful for national space agencies to conduct low gravity research. However, only a few selected tourists can have this lifetime experience, and one tour to space will "cost up to $25 million".
The Rotating Ring-Shaped Hotel
The hotel is operating seems like a big wheel rotating outside the planet from the first appearance. "Voyager Station is a rotating space station designed to produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation. Artificial, or simulated, gravity is essential to long term habitation in space," mentioned in Orbital Assembly Corporation's website.

According to the company, "this is a sun-synchronous polar orbit that will reduce thermal stress and allow for almost continuous solar power generation. there, orbit degradation and space debris risk will be nominal."
The rotating ring-shaped form will give the space station gravity equivalent to one-sixth of the Earth's.
Structure and Construction
Self-described it as "the world's first large scale space construction company," Orbital Assembly Corporation says the hotel will cover an area of 50,000-square-metre space with a huge ring-shaped form that will be 200m in overall diameter (ISS is 73m long and 109m wide). It can bear an estimated mass of 2,418 metric tons (ISS: 419 tons).
The un-pressurised ring structure will form the docking hub at the centre. It will be connected with a 200-metre-diametre outer ring truss by a network of spokes.
The habitation ring will support around 24 large, connected pressurised modules that will come in a variety where privately owned modules will be optimised for hotels, commercial activity, villas and hotels. While the government-owned modules will be used for scientific research and training.

Inside the Space Hotel
The hotel will comprise several holiday accommodation options, including 500-square-metre "luxury villas". These dwellings are available to be rented for a month, week or longer.
One villa can accommodate 16 people and has three bathrooms and cooking facilities.
And, the 30-square- meter hotel suites contain beds for two people and a private bathroom.
The space hotel is supposed to have it all from high-end bars and restaurants and gyms and activity centres.
Although the luxury hotel allows the visitors to enjoy the space's spectacular views, they are not expected to fly around in spacesuits like astronauts. But thanks to simulated gravity, the tourists can enjoy various facilities here like "toilet facilities, showers, and beds that function similar to what you are used to on Earth."
