On the occasion of World Water Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Ken-Betwa Interlink Project with the state of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh signing the MoU which means that over 62 lakh households would not have to wait for the precious drinking water. "A big step has been taken to fulfil the dream envisioned by Atal ji for the families of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh by signing the MoU on Ken-Betwa Interlink Project," said the PM.
The first step to the National Perspective Plan for the Interlinking of Rivers, the project entails trransferring surplus water from Ken river in MP to the Betwa River in Up.

This interlink will help make the water reach the starving areas of Bundelkhand. The main beneficiary of the project will include the cities like Panna, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Datia, Vidisha, Shivpuri and Raisen in Madhya Pradesh and Banda, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur of Uttar Pradesh.
