As the excitement builds up for the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai, the India Pavilion is sure to leave its mark on spectators even before its unveiling. Touted to be the glittering jewel of Expo 2020 Dubai, the four-storey India Pavilion is reportedly expected to be completed in August.
One of the largest pavilions at world fair, the structure is built on 4,800 sqm plot. Conceptualized by Delhi-based CP Kukreja Architects, the pavilion commemorates 75 glorious years of India’s independence. According to Dikshu Kukreja, managing principal, CPKA, the four-storey structure is an amalgamation of technology and storytelling. Latest cutting-edge innovative technologies have been incorporated to recite India’s rich landscape to the visitors. Crafted from 600 individual blocks bearing the potential of kinetic movement, the façade of the pavilion represents India on the move. The narrative structure of the pavilion will forecast 75 different stories of India including its rich history, varied geography, vibrant literature, cultural diversity and cuisine in the most interactive and inclusive manner during the 183 days that the event will run. On the onset of sunset, the façade will put up a pulsating show with lights, sounds and projections depicting a robust India. Adjacent to the main structure, the two-storey court will have a circular roof which will resonate the Ashok Chakra.
The interiors of the pavilion will give the India experience through its 11 themes. The ground floor will take you through the Indian space journey. Beyond the space centre, the legacy of India’s contribution to health and wellness, and yoga will be displayed. The first floor of the pavilion will highlight the varied Indian culture and arts, while the second floor will showcase the never-ending opportunities India has to offer. The pavilion will also offer state-of-the-art conference hall, restaurants, open theatre and souvenir shops.
Besides, spectators will also witness physical exhibits and immersive digital content showcasing various sectors of the Indian economy. Some of the key highlights exhibiting India’s mark on the international forefront such as space mission, Make in India, Digital India, Skill India and Start-Up India will be showcased.
