Luxe Merged With Raw Minimalism in The Framebazaar Store | Mumbai | KSD Studio

Wooden angled framing, white reapers, subtle grey tones and bold art frames; the Framebazaar store in Mumbai by KSD Studio is all about the luxe merged with raw minimalism. Kshiti Shah in collaboration with Rishi Pathak has designed this 600-square-foot boutique space that evokes a sense of indulgence in the world of captured and curated memories. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) receives more details about the project. Art-Gallery Like Feeling

With a pared-back aesthetic, the store exudes an art gallery-like quality enwrapping the brand ethos. Right at the entrance, the juxtaposition of the wooden battens and the reapers adds drama as the backdrop for the art frames. A custom-made central work table creates a moment of pause.

Simple Walls Accentuated By Beautiful Art Frames

Certain walls are highlighted with an art frame to give an idea of how the product adds a punch to a space. To blend the core functionality with the aesthetics, the walls stay simple while the art frames shine.

The open plan reflects the process of framing and customisation for an immersive retail experience. Extensive use of wooden rafters in the ceiling and walls amps up a sense of frame and angle to the linear space.

Minimal Material Palette

The materiality was inspired by Framebazaar’s ethos and aesthete—geometric and minimal. This store highlights the craft of frame-making with the precision of geometry.

KSD studio has peppered the space with customised details that drive a sense of motion and pause with meticulous attention to elements.

About Firm and the Architect

KSD Studio is an amalgamation of conflicting forces of tradition and modernity, nature and architecture, openness and structure. All projects emerge from converting a program from in-depth research into an authentic space. Kshiti Shah, the principal architect established the practice in 2019. She completed her master's from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Post which, she worked in Perkins Eastman and WeWork where she handled several large educational and workspace projects. Creating a story between the inhabitants and space while designing has been her keen interest.
