Voltas Takes a Step Towards Expansion with its Latest Manufacturing Plant in Tamil Nadu

In a regulatory filing, the Tata Group company said Voltas has begun work on a new air conditioner manufacturing plant in the Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. This facility will initially manufacture room air conditioners (RACs) and is an extension of the existing Pantnagar RAC facility.

In a regulatory filing, the Tata Group company said Voltas has begun work on a new air conditioner manufacturing plant in the Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. According to a regulatory filing, the new manufacturing facility will cover 150 acres, and Voltas will invest over $500 million in the facility over the next few years. With its factories in Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), Waghodia and Sanand in Gujarat, this is the fifth manufacturing facility for the consumer durable manufacturer. All the products manufactured in this facility will be competitive on a global scale. This facility will initially manufacture room air conditioners (RACs) and is an extension of the existing Pantnagar RAC facility.

Managing Director and CEO of Voltas Limited, Pradeep Bakshi, said: "The new facility will help Voltas expand its presence and footprint, especially in South India, to meet the growing consumer demand."

Approximately 1,500 local workers will be employed when the facility is fully operational within this fiscal year.
