Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has unveiled a phased redevelopment plan for the Pune railway station, aiming to preserve and showcase the city's rich heritage and culture.
During a recent inspection of the station, the Minister and senior railway officials emphasized the need to develop the Pune-Lonavla Ghat and Kasara-Igatpuri sections. These areas, known for their difficult terrain featuring slopes, sharp turns, and elevations, are critical for ensuring the safe movement of trains.
Additionally, the state government is currently in discussions with the Centre about the Pune-Nashik semi high-speed rail project.
