Harmeet Singh Issar graduated in electronics engineering in 2002, which naturally led him to the design and commissioning of controls for intelligent lighting systems. During the early days of LEDs, his exposure to lighting and controls made him one of the first few solid-state lighting specialists with Philips Lighting. Realizing early on that light itself was much more than LED, controls, or any particular technology, Harmeet, along with his mentor Sanjeev, established Design Matrix to pursue this broader philosophy.
Today, Harmeet has directed more than 200 projects, including the lighting master planning for the city of Lucknow, several prominent hotels in India, Africa, and Southeast Asia, as well as the revitalization of the City Palace in Jaipur for night tourism.
In 2009, Design Matrix expanded by starting ihD India Pvt. as a joint venture with ihD Ltd, a Hong Kong-registered company specializing in ELV, audio-visual, acoustics, IT, security, and PBX system design and consultancy. The firm focuses solely on design, consultancy, and project management, ensuring independence and the ability to specify equipment and systems best suited to clients' technical and budgetary needs. Harmeet's commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned Design Matrix as a leader in the lighting design industry.
