“KRIPA” is a residence that reflects the personality of its homeowners - open, minimal, and rooted in functionality. Located on a compact 1500 sq. ft. irregularly shaped north-west corner plot, the house was designed in response to the evolving context of an old residential neighborhood where many homes are now being rebuilt or renovated. From the outset, the clients had a clear vision: the house had to be functional, clutter-free, and a true extension of their personalities. This strong brief, combined with a challenging plot and a tightly-knit urban setting, informed every design decision. The aim was to create open, light-filled spaces while maintaining privacy - a balance achieved through a fluid layout, strategic articulation, and thoughtful openings.
FACADE DESIGN
The architecture employs a subtle material palette to reflect the owner’s calm and refined demeanor. The dominant theme is white, balanced with Burma teakwood, aluminum, grey vitrified tiles, and exposed materials like BLACK LAVA stone, brick, and concrete jaalis. These Jaali’s serve multiple purposes: offering privacy, reducing heat gain - especially from the western sun - and allowing filtered light and air into the interiors.
