In a major moment for the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), two of its landscape projects have been selected to be exhibited during the renowned London Biennale 2021. Among the selected projects, Yamuna Biodiversity Park is a part of the ongoing redevelopment efforts of the Yamuna Riverbank undertaken by the civic authority for the last few years. The other project selected for the exhibit is Vasant Udyan (Bagh-e-Bahaar).
With the theme, “mapping of ideas between ecology, sustainability and design", 26 entries would present India’s story to the world with a plea for a sustainable and ecological shift across domains.
Spread over 457 acres, Yamuna Biodiversity Park is one of the seven such green areas developed by DDA with the technical help of Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE), University of Delhi It serves as an ideal alternative habitat for migratory and resident bird species. It also is designed to conserve the wild genetic resources of agricultural crops and enhance groundwater recharge and augment freshwater availability.
Spread across 44.5 acres, Vasant Udyan is a charbagh created a Charbagh around the Tughlaq-era monument, Bara Lao Ka Gumbad.
