An office is a space where a person invests their time more than their home. It should create that positive vibe and zeal to work more effectively and efficiently. Keeping this thing in mind, Swarali & Taha – Principal Designers of Space Theory have designed and executed the “Biyani Tradelinks” office in Sakar9 Building at Ashram Road, Ahmedabad. The company is a paper manufacturer dealing in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Designers used veneer throughout the project to give it a warm and elegant look with the open ceiling concept. Further, the use of earthen tones with a pop of vibrant colours give a chic and timeless appeal to the office. Designers have shared with SURFACES REPORTER (SR) how they’ve modelled the entire office so that it shows wideness and creates a different aura. Take a look:

The whole office is divided into 4 areas: Welcoming the clients with reception area followed by a manager cabin with restroom, works station area, conference area and pantry.
A Hidden Restroom
Since our client visits the Ahmedabad office twice a month we have to give him a rest area as well and have created a hidden restroom beneath the manager's cabin where he can come and relax for a while after travelling.
Veneer- The King Material
Veneer is the king material of this project which is giving a beautiful impact with the open ceiling concept which is nowadays a new trend in interiors.
Conference room has an entire wall done with POP brick punning to give the rustic look in the area.
Earthy Colour Palette
Talking about the color palette has used earthen tones with a mixture of vibrant tones balancing the interior for showing elegance and vibrancy to the office.
Since the office has a small area to give a proper circulation space was most challenging for us, but the client was very generous and have given his full attention in all the design discussions of the project which helped us a lot in designing and execution of the project.
Talking about their favourite part of the project, designers say, “Our favorite element was designing the manager table and hidden partition. The use of a world map as an artifact on the partition is the real elegance of the office as that can be seen from almost every corner of the office.”

Take on Sustainability
Sustainability is the major part that every individual has to adapt to. As we have seen after this Covid19 occurrence economy has been scaled down.
So, what is their take on sustainability? Swarali & Taha says, “As a designer, we both suggest supporting more local businesses. Like in our projects we try to use more ‘Do it yourself products’ for artifacts, supporting the labor team and encouraging them to work. Reusing old materials and making new furniture from them is the key motive of team SpaceTheory."
With the use of natural materials and an earthy colour palette, the firm endeavours to create a positive and energetic environment for the employees in this office space.
About the Designers
Two college friends- Swarali & Taha- working in reputed interior designing companies decided to quit their jobs and start their own venture. One has a keen interest in doing Space planning while the other gives a theory to Space, both of their combination defines SpaceTheory.
