When Vasundhara Sampath of Phylosophy Design Studio was approached by Priyanka Reddy to design her holiday home in the enchanting hill station of Coonoor, amidst the sprawling tea gardens, it was easy to understand her requirements since the studio had previously worked on a couple of projects with her. The weekend retreat perfectly blends into the surrounding lush greenery with its bamboo matting, wood textures, rustic finishes, stunning chandeliers, and organic palettes. The designer shared more about this beautiful project in detail with SURFACES REPORTER (SR):

“This was one project where I wouldn’t complain about making site visits. One look at the site and I knew my job as an interior designer just got easier as the site was enveloped with the most amazing views!,” said Vasundhara.

An Oasis of Warmth In The Drawing Room

Most of the rooms have high ceilings so we used bamboo matting and stunning chandeliers to highlight it.

Relax and Unwind to this Cozy Fireplace

A cozy fireplace with accent chairs on either side is the perfect space to unwind at the end of the day with your favourite book.

Colours, Materials and Fabrics Punctuate the Design Scheme

The master bedroom has a gorgeous tall solid wood headboard and a cozy reading chair.

The guest room has a four-poster bed in a pretty shade of aqua. A comfortable chaise lounge and botanical prints on the wall make a picture-perfect corner.

The boys’ room features furniture in shades of grey. Cheery prints and ceramic lamps add a pop of colour to this room. Carefully handpicked accessories and rugs added the finishing touches.

All the rooms have an attached sit-out with picturesque views of the tea estate, apt for a wonderful morning cup of tea.

Vasundhara fused her explorer’s spirit and passion for travel with her love and natural ability for Interior Design starting her journey in 2009. She soon developed a reputation for a keen eye for aesthetics, space and colour; a personal guide, of sorts, in the creation of a warm and inviting home. Her dedication to her clients and the achievement of their design needs evolved into her venturing into Commercial Design Spaces in 2011. She believes that everyone deserves a beautiful space and is also sensitive to budget constraints and will work to achieve the desired result without sacrificing the small details or quality.
