Italian Designer Creates Solar-Powered Floating Pods That Are Equipped With GPS capabilities

Floating penthouses is not a new concept, but a mobile hotel equipped with GPS capable of cruising the vast seas certainly is. Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini, the founder of the Lazzarini Design Studio, has revolutionized the seaside hospitality game with the creation of zero-emission floating pods christened- the new 'Pearlsuite' explicitly designed for fellow Italian outfit Jet Capsule, these five-star hotel like floating units are equipped with GPS capabilities and electric engines. lazzarinidesignstudioPearlsuite contains vacation houses in units that float on water. With a diameter of roughly 23 feet, the project provides up to 22 square meters' worth of interior space. The easy-to-build pod is apt for both existing and future resorts as it enables hoteliers to expand the number of suites on the property at a meager cost.

Design Details

The pod features the main shell and a robust circular hull that is fully retractable for open-sun lounging. The units are fully autonomous and are equipped with solar panels that produce clean energy to power the electric appliances. It is enveloped by a deck that offers a walking area and extra room for basking outside.

Though each suite varies in size, each floating unit will contain a kitchenette, two working space desks or vanities, a bathroom, and a relaxing or sleeping area that can double up as a lounge bed.

How These Units Are Designed?

Lazzarini conceptualizes these units as additional accommodations for already existing beachside hotels. These are very quick and easy to assemble and can be customized as per the buyer's needs. An electric engine has been fitted in each suite.

lazzarinidesignstudioFurther, the integration of autopilot features and GPS technology allows the pod to self-positon their location or sail at speeds of up to 5 knots to move from one way point to another. The Pearlsuite is equipped with a Gyroscope stabilizer system to ensure seamless sailing. Moreover, the extra storage space in the hull can be used to keep gear and equipment.

lazzarinidesignstudioBesides, one does not need to rely solely on the sun for solar power. Buyers can choose a hydrogen fuel cell generator to produce instant energy. This feature ensures that the pod can work without any problem on rainy days.
