Jaipur Rugs X Ashiesh Shah Collection Unveiled at Milan’s Flagship Store | Brahmaand Collection | Salone del Mobile

The recently concluded Salone del Mobile showcased the launch of Jaipur Rugs’ exquisite collection in collaboration with India’s leading designer Ashiesh Shah. Its newly opened flagship store located at Piazzale Luigi Cadorna, 4 in Milan, Italy is home to various luxury collections which range from modern and contemporary to traditional hand-knotted rugs.

Inspired by a series of original watercolor paintings by the designer, the Brahmaand collection blends the cosmic energy with artisanal work through the hand-knotted carpets. The collection, featuring four rugs designed by Ashiesh Shah, highlights the age-old questions of greater designs into thought-provoking visual art with an inventive line of luxurious hand-knotted carpets.

The collection’s style is a never before seen concoction of celestial elements, history and craftsmanship which is visibly narrated through the enduring transient craft of rug weaving. The collection paints the mysteries of starlit night skies through its gradients and textures with indigo hues that draw inspiration from ancient Indian science and mysticism. Its unique primitive shapes and organic forms pay homage to the civilization’s larger-than-life past. Precise gultarashi molds the rug pile like troughs and crests of space-time, while timeless motifs and constellations crafted with intricate zardosi embroidery paint discourses of chaos and calm, being and non-being, illusion and reality; of the bhram and the bhramaand, while beckoning to a world far out of our reach.

With the careful processes of picking, hand-carding and the spinning of wool into fine yarn, its meticulous weaving into rugs by skilled Indian artisans, and more than 18 finishing processes to ensure the highest quality, the Brahmaand collection paints a picture of the infinite universe in living spaces.
