Mahesh Bangad, Associate Professor at Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture (BNCA) in Pune, India, stands out as a remarkable figure in the field of architecture and design education. Currently serving as the coordinator for the B. Arch Course at BNCA, Mahesh brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to his role.
With an academic background that includes a Masters in Project Management from Manchester, UK, and a Masters in Environmental Architecture and Planning from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Mahesh is well-equipped to guide and inspire the next generation of architects. His educational journey also includes a Certificate Diploma in Indian Art & Architecture and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from SPPU.
Mahesh’s contributions to the field have been widely recognized. He has received numerous accolades, including the ‘Best Maheshwari Professional (Pune District) Award 2012,’ the ‘A3F Young Achiever Award’ 2016 for Architecture, and the ‘A3F Best Teacher Award’ in 2017 at the National level. In 2019, he was honored with the “Leader of BNCA” Award for his impactful role in various college activities. His achievements continued with the “Leadership Icon Award 2021” for ‘Most Promising Professor of Architecture and Design’ and an award for “Outstanding Contribution in the Educational Domain” in the Architecture and Design Category at the National Architecture and Interior Design Excellence Awards 2021. Additionally, Mahesh was recognized with the “India Prime Quality Education Award 2021” by Fox Clues, Daily Hunt, and the Chronicle Journal.

An active contributor to the academic and professional community, Mahesh conducts workshops and delivers talks on Project Management in Building Construction, Risk Management, Vernacular Architecture, and Design Thinking across India. He has been a motivational speaker, served as a jury member for numerous design competitions, and moderated panels at prestigious forums such as IA&B’s 361 Degree Design Conferences and NASA India.
Mahesh holds significant positions within various organizations. He is the Chairman of the Architects, Engineers, Surveyors Association (AESA) Pune, the Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) Pune Regional Chapter (PRC), and a Life member of INTACH, where he also serves on the Executive Committee of the INTACH Pune Chapter. He has represented Maharashtra at the UNESCO INTACH ‘World Heritage Forum for Youth’ in Delhi and serves as a Governing Council Member for Flora College of Architecture, Pune, and as a member of the Board of Studies at Vishwakarma University’s Department of Interior Design.
In addition to his academic and professional roles, Mahesh is actively involved in community service as the Secretary of Raktache Nate Charitable Trust, which focuses on blood donation and providing blood free of cost to those in need. He is an Associate Member of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and a member of the Heritage Society, India.

THE WADE ASIA, established in 2016 began with the objectives of creating a platform for recognising the contribution of women in design and to provide a large national platform for the entire community to celebrate women-led development.
