The spiritual quotient of an individual is always linked to the place where he worships and the environment he uses. Today, in the era of changes, even temples have seen that much-required transformation of being a house of several social activities, clubbed together in a form that is an extension of the metamorphic principles of Vedic temple architecture.
Use of New Age Materials in Construction
With the ever-changing patterns of design in architecture, temple architecture has evolved in response to the changes in worshipping style. The firm has used glass and other modern materials in the construction process of the complex. Glass creates various patterns of light and shadow making it a furthermore interesting space inside.
“In relation to the new technology and materials at our disposal, we have had various experimentations in temple architecture also. While maintaining the sanctity of the space and the religious beliefs attached to it, this temple signifies the era of modern temple architecture itself,” said Tushar Sogani.

A Multifunctional Space
The Hare Krishna Cultural Centres (HKCC) has been a revolution worldwide. People from all walks of life have joined the movement and devotees have made it a mass movement. This change is also seen in the buildings where they worship.
“Keeping the temple’s traditions in mind, we designed the temple aiming to construct a multipurpose space to attract people, and perform as a public space in the town. In addition, a thin and large glass façade Shikhar allowed us to achieve symbolic temple architecture.”
Looking at the history of temple architecture one can see the development of the craft and the symbolic roofs. In order to ensure the space for people’s communication in urban areas where fire protection is strictly required, it was important to design reinforced concrete structures by layering to compose the functions.
Considering these factors, the design team has made the structural attempt by the following history and creating a space where a large roof kindly receives the people.
