Welspun Corp looking at diversifying, to expand its portfolio targeting B2C segment

In a major move, Welspun Corp Ltd one of the biggest manufacturers of large diameter pipes in the world has decided to adopt a more consumer centric approach after getting major success in domestic as well as international markets. A report by SURFACES REPORTER

Welspun Corp Ltd., one of the flagship companies of $3 bn Textile major Welspun Group, is expanding its ambit to make it more consumer centric, Vipul Mathur, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Welspun Corp Ltd, said.

During an interview, he also mentioned, “We have been significantly successful both in the domestic and international markets. Now I think it is time that we expand our base and, against that backdrop, we are diversifying our portfolio. We are foraying into ductile iron pipe manufacturing, setting up a steel plant, a long product mill, and a super specialty business.”

“All in all, we are trying to change the shape, colour and the contour of Welspun Corp. from what it was two years ago. In the next three years it is going to be a very different company," Mathur said.

Welspun Corp Ltd., holds pipe mills in Dahej, Anjar & Mandya with a total welded pipe capacity of around 2.55 MMTPA. The company has recently posted a 70.21% drop in its net profit to Rs61.38 crore on a 6.78% decline in revenue from operations to Rs1,298.89 crore in the Q3 of FY22. It has also revealed the plans to invest more than ?2,500 crore in the expansion of its existing business.

In its credit, the company has supplied to world's one of the deepest pipeline project (Independence Trail in Gulf of Mexico), one of the highest pipeline project (Peru LNG), one of the longest pipeline (Canada to US) and the project involving supplies of one of the heaviest pipe  (56 inch X 1.34inch in Persian Gulf.
